Sunday 17th June 2023 – The Big Village Breakfast is back !
Charlton Horethorne Village Hall
Entrance and breakfast is free of charge however generous donations are requested on the day to cover the costs of the foold and hall hire. Any surplus will be shared 50/50 between the parish church and the village Church of England Primary School.
All are welcome!

Just Strollin’ Group
10.30 a.m. Wednesday 21st June 2023
This will be a circular walk of about 4.5 miles meandering around Mere, including Castle Hill (the remains of a medieval fortification) – with the option of walking to the top with panoramic views – then paths, lanes and fields south and west of Mere.
Please park in Mere’s Castle Street car park ready to start the walk at 10.30 a.m. Lunch is at The Butt of Sherry pub opposite at 12.45 p.m.
We would also be delighted to welcome any new members. We are a relatively small, friendly group walking between 3 and 5 miles on reasonably easy terrain. We start and end at a pub or cafe and have lunch there afterwards which is always fun!

7.00 p.m. Thursday 29th June 2023 – Horethorne Wine Society
Meeting in the archway next to Oliver’s Coffee House in Cheap Street, Sherborne
90-minute guided walk of Sherborne looking at the origins of “Beer, Wines and Spirits” in the town.
Inevitably there will be some local history in which the abbey monks, the stagecoaches and horses, the railway, the brewsters and even Charles Dickens all play their part.
The tour is open to everyone and after the tour those who wish can continue to one of Sherborne’s historic places of refreshment!

CHAPS open social gathering is an annual event when the last production is reviewed and the new organising committee is elected
Everyone will be warmly welcomed and food will be provided – please bring your own drinks!
If you are interested in any aspect of our next production in a cast, technical or committee role, CHAPS will be delighted to hear from you.

Following the amazing success of the 2022 Festival when £12000 was raised for the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance, Headway and The Brain Injury Unit at Poole Hospital, the Festival is back in 2023.
This year’s charities will be the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance and the Eve Appeal (a charity supporting research into five types of women’s gynaecological cancer).
Children’s Entertainment starts at 5.00 p.m. with “Pinkie Parties
DJ, Bar, Food, Raffle Cocktails from “Floral Shakers”
